Energy report
Since the Lower Saxony Climate Act came into force, municipalities in the state have been obliged to regularly report on the energy consumption of their municipal properties. The Neuenhaus joint municipality published its energy report for 2022 here for the first time.
Reporting obligation in the Lower Saxony Climate Act
On 10 December 2020, the Lower Saxony state parliament passed the Lower Saxony Climate Act (Act amending the Lower Saxony Constitution and introducing a Lower Saxony Act to promote climate protection and mitigate the consequences of climate change), which came into force on 15 December 2020 with its publication in the Lower Saxony Law and Ordinance Gazette. Section 8 of this law obliges the municipalities of Lower Saxony to regularly prepare and publish a municipal energy report, for the first time for the year 2022. The municipal energy report must contain at least the following information:
- the annual costs, consumption and CO2 emissions of municipal properties
- Characteristic values in kWh/m²/a
- Weather adjustment for heating energy
