Elections and voting

On election day, citizens decide on the distribution of political power. With their vote, they determine the composition of the European Parliament, the Bundestag, the state parliaments and the local parliaments. You can find more information here in the run-up to each election.

Federal election 2025

The early federal elections will take place on 23 February 2025.

All citizens who are eligible to vote on election day are then

  • Germans within the meaning of the Basic Law are
  • have reached the age of 18 and
  • have been resident in Germany for at least three months without interruption and are not excluded from the right to vote.

As a rule, Germans living abroad can also vote, but they must apply to be included in the electoral roll.

All citizens who meet these requirements will receive an election notification by 2 February 2025.

According to Section 13 of the Federal Election Act, persons who have been disenfranchised by a judge are excluded from the right to vote.

With the Votemanager app, the election results can also be called up on mobile devices. The Votemanager app is available free of charge for iPhone or iPad in the Apple App Store and for Android in the Google Play Store.

Voters in the Neuenhaus joint municipality cast their votes in a total of 14 polling stations. The map below provides an overview of the locations of the polling stations, including the name of the polling district. If you are unable to cast your vote at a polling station, you can apply for postal voting documents from 13 January 2025.
