The village region of Nordhorn - Neuenhaus - Lage with the town of Neuenhaus, the municipality of Lage and the town of Nordhorn with the associated districts of Grasdorf, Veldhausen, Hilten, Bookholt, Bimolten, Hohenkörben and Frenswegen (monastery village) was successfully included in the village development programme in 2018. This opens up numerous opportunities for funding, especially for private renovation measures. If you are the owner of a historic building that is typical of the landscape or characterises the village, we would like to encourage you to apply for village development funding.
What can be subsidised? In principle, measures that improve the external appearance of a building are eligible for funding. This includes new construction, extension and remodelling measures on visible exterior elements, such as facades, roof surfaces, windows, gates and doors, in a design and choice of materials typical of the village, as well as insulation and structural work. The design of the exterior area, which emphasises the typical image of the village, is also supported. Extended funding options, such as an interior extension, may be eligible for funding in the case of conversion and subsequent use of the building and for measures relating to leisure and local recreation facilities as well as facilities for community and local supply.
How much funding can you receive? The funding rate for private owners is up to a maximum of 35% of the eligible net expenditure. In addition, there is an increase of 5% if the objectives of the regional development concept are met. Funding of up to 75% is even possible for non-profit organisations. The funding limit depends on the specific project; in the area of "conservation and design" it is €50,000, while refurbishment measures in the area of "conversion and subsequent use" can be funded up to €150,000, and even up to €200,000 for community-oriented projects and uses.
It is important to note that private and public applicants must submit their applications by 30 September of each year at the latest via their local authority to the regional development office responsible for them. Applications received after this date can only be considered in the following year. Implementation of the measure applied for is only permitted after approval of the funding by the responsible regional planning office (exceptions may be considered in cases of acute danger to the existing building).
