Declaration on accessibility
The joint municipality of Neuenhaus endeavours to make its websites and mobile applications accessible. The declaration on digital accessibility is required by the Lower Saxony Disability Equality Act (NBGG).
This accessibility statement applies to the website www.neuenhaus.de
Status of compatibility with the requirements
This website is mostly, but not yet fully, barrier-free. The requirements of the NBITVO (Lower Saxony Ordinance on Accessible Information Technology for Public Authorities) are largely fulfilled.
The following functions are currently supported
- Sufficient contrasts
- Enlarge font/display: To enlarge the page display with the common browsers (e.g. Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera and Apple Safari), use "CTRL" and "+" for Windows and "cmd" and "+" for Apple.
- Reduce font/display size: To reduce the size of the page display with the common browsers (e.g. Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera and Apple Safari), use "CTRL" and "-" for Windows and "cmd" and "-" for Apple.
- The content of the website automatically adapts to the screen size of the device being used (responsive path design).
- Storage of alternative texts for images. The image content is explained when the mouse hovers over an image. This information is taken into account by the read-aloud software.
- A browser-side read-aloud function for texts (e.g. from Firefox 49.0) is supported.
- Logical structure and organisation of content
Non-accessible content
The contents listed below are not barrier-free for the following reasons:
- Documents integrated into the website (.pdf, .doc, etc.)
Reason:
The large number of documents provided, some of which are older, has not yet made it possible to convert them into an accessible format. These documents will be successively adapted.
Documents provided by third parties (e.g. other organisations, ministries, etc.) are not accessible. - Videos integrated into the website
Reason:
It has not yet been possible to provide the videos with an audio description. An adaptation is also being planned here in the medium term. - Cartography within the website
Reason:
A cartographic representation is a helpful and very useful addition to information. Cartography is essentially a pictorial representation, which therefore cannot fulfil the requirements of the BITV. - Editorial content (in part)
Reason:
Due to the complex content that is published, at least in part, on this website, it is not always possible to use simple language (e.g. avoiding the use of technical terms).
Pictorial representations (e.g. infographics) or tabular lists are used to clarify contexts and for better visualisation. These are not barrier-free.
- Documents integrated into the website (.pdf, .doc, etc.)
Your comments and suggestions
Our aim is to write articles in such a way that they can also be understood by visitors who are unfamiliar or only superficially familiar with the topic in question.
We are happy to receive your suggestions by telephone or electronically if you feel that an article makes the content to be conveyed unnecessarily complicated.
Please let us know about any shortcomings in the website (and mobile application) and let us know your reason for the non-accessible design of information. Information that is not accessible can be requested from us in a simpler format.
