Registry office

The registry office is the authority responsible for civil status law. The civil status includes data on birth, marriage and death as well as the associated family and name-related facts.

Would you like to get married?

We look forward to hearing from you and will be happy to assist you with any questions you may have about the marriage and, of course, the civil ceremony.

Before you say "I do", you must officially register your marriage at the registry office of your place of residence. This can be the registry office of the place of residence of one or both spouses.
The documents to be submitted for registration may vary from couple to couple. We therefore ask you to contact us in advance about the documents required in your case.

The Neuenhaus registry office offers different wedding rooms:

  • Neuenhaus

Would you like a civil wedding ceremony in a dignified atmosphere?
Then choose the wedding room in the over 200-year-old old town hall in Neuenhaus, Hauptstraße 24, with its special ambience. The wedding room is located on the 1st floor. There is no lift available. A black grand piano in the wedding room invites you to make music.

The Heimatfreunde Neuenhaus offer a free wedding service, which you can find out more about here:

  • Veldhausen

Or would you prefer a historic, rural location?

Then we recommend the miller's house at the Mühlenhof in Veldhausen. The miller's house was built in 1769 and - after it had been dismantled into its individual parts and stored in the meantime - rebuilt as a historic building.

  • Osterwald

The farm museum in Osterwald, built from two old farmhouses, is also available for civil weddings.
The wedding ceremonies take place in the so-called "good old parlour". The outdoor facilities with a beautifully landscaped farm garden provide the perfect setting for a romantic wedding.

  • Georgsdorf

The windmill in Georgsdorf with the miller's house also exudes romantic flair. The "Galierieholländer" type windmill was built in 1875 and is a more than 100-year-old brick building with a thatched roof.
